During pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes many changes to create a new life. Every system is adapting to support the developing baby. It is common, but not normal to develop pain during pregnancy. Pelvic floor physical therapy can support a woman’s changing body, decrease pain, prepare for labor and delivery, and facilitate postpartum healing.
Giving birth is an extremely strenuous event for a woman’s body and it needs time to recover. While many women feel recovered by 6-12 weeks, it may take longer than this to feel like yourself again.
Many women think the pain, pressure, or discomfort they feel during pregnancy or after their baby arrives is normal and think it will eventually go away. That is not always true.
For those who are symptomatic, pelvic floor physical therapy can assist in your recovery. For those who are asymptomatic, having a pelvic floor evaluation may help you to avoid future problems.
